On Tap celebrates 25 years of fast, friendly, efficient service

ontap25From humble beginnings in the small town of Pietermaritzburg, on tap now boasts a national footprint that spans across South Africa, with the intention of moving into Africa in the future. There are now 24 stores in five provinces and 2015 promises to be a year of great growth for the brand. Key geographical areas have been identified for growth and the opening of new stores in these areas is one of the focuses for the franchisor.

On Tap is continuously engaging with customers and keeping them abreast of news from suppliers and the company itself through various social media platforms. A few fun and interactive competitions with various themes have run on Facebook: such as Bubble Bath Day, Rubber Duck Day, and Popcorn Day. These initiatives create a fun way to keep in contact with new, existing, and potential customers while creating strong brand awareness.

Over the last 25 years the brand has experienced many peaks and troughs, which is natural in any and all franchises. On Tap is poised to take on the challenges of 2015 with great enthusiasm and will successfully trade. This is due to the work we started doing in 2013. In 2013 we prepared the ground for our foundation (going back to basics and consolidating, which has given On Tap a much needed new perspective and vigour for the industry). In 2014 we set the foundation down and 2015 will see us build on this foundation. On Tap has identified its key partners and suppliers, forming strong and lasting business relationships. This allows for On Tap to provide a range of superb quality products with ease.

The On Tap Group saw organic growth and new investments which delivered new milestones in 2014, bringing and restoring confidence that the foundation for continuing growth and value-creation has been broadened, and remains as robust as ever. In 2014 the On Tap Group grew 22,76% on 2013 and for the 2015 year to date the group is 26,07% up on 2014. This is a fantastic achievement and definitely worth celebrating along with 25 years of successful trading.

A new refreshed brand image was launched towards the end of 2014 and along with this, three new store concepts were born. These innovative concepts have been exceptionally well received in the market place.

The store concepts comprise of trade store, plumbing and bathrooms and a lifestyle store. The trade store, as the name suggests, targets primarily plumbers and contractors with a strong focus on plumbing supplies. These tend to be smaller stores. The plumbing and bathroom store is most similar to the existing store model, offering a balanced mix of a trade counter and showroom; displaying sanitaryware, baths and taps. The largest concept would be the lifestyle store; this is an innovative, fresh new look store offering both a trade store and a vastly extended showroom. In this store for instance, the category of surfaces will be introduced including paint, wallpaper, and countertops. A range of bath towels, mirrors, and gorgeous accessories will be introduced in these new stores. This will in time become the flagship stores for the brand, although they will be strategically appointed in specific areas across South Africa.

Expanding into new spheres this year with the introduction of Top Paints in the On Tap stores. Top Paints is a proudly South African, well-established paint company based in Meyerton. Top Paints offers a comprehensive and competitively priced range of products to suit the South African consumer.

On Tap is well into its 25th birthday celebrations and preparing for the year ahead. 2015 is the year for On Tap to dominate the trade with its collective wealth of knowledge and staff with the right expertise to steer it into the horizon of a successful year. On Tap aims to be at the forefront of not only innovation but also style and design. As time, style and products change, the on tap brand will continue to adapt flexibly to suit all its stakeholders.
