The new home of the Shanduka Group isn’t just easy on the eye; it’s also easy on the environment

Following board approval in 2012, black-owned investment company Shanduka Group embarked on a significant milestone for the business – a brand new home for the Shanduka family in Sandton, Johannesburg. Through a partnership with Investec Property, Shanduka acquired a site on 85 Grayston Drive for the development of its new offices.

Upgrading infrastructure, whilst preserving the environment


A civil project in the province of the Northern Cape has addressed the critical needs of the population growth in the area, whilst ensuring that the surrounding environment is not compromised


The Homevale waste water treatment works (WWTW) has undergone a significant upgrade. The capacity of the works has been increased by 50%, which will ensure that whilst today’s needs are met, waste water from future developments taking place in the area will also be accommodated for. The site of the Homevale WWTW is located within the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality (LM) and is significant because the plant treats waste water for the entire city of Kimberley, the capital of the Northern Cape province.

Water under the Wawiel Bridge

When sections of the Wawiel Bridge’s main pipeline started to leak due to corrosion, a pipe-relining was the only cost-effective solution

The Wawiel Bridge in Kroonstad was a completely new challenge for the Nu Flow team, but it was a challenge they handled swiftly and effortlessly, restoring the main water pipe at the fraction of the cost, at a fraction of the time other alternatives would have resulted in.

City Lodge: Keeping it simple; keeping it modern

The City Lodge project in Waterfall City was completed in under a year, virtually without a hitch, once again proving the value of a well-oiled team

First ground on this project broke in January 2014 and by December 2015, the 149-room City Lodge Hotel Waterfall City (Midrand) could open its first 35 rooms as planned. It fully opened in February this year, boasting four floors. Situated in the heart of the Waterfall City commercial district, this hotel is in close proximity to the restaurants of Waterfall Corner, only 15 minutes from Sandton’s CBD, and five minutes from Midrand’s CBD. In time to come, the future ‘Mall of Africa’ will be this hotel’s neighbour.

Portside – a step above the rest

The first 5-Star Green Star-rated tall building in the country boasts many impressive design aspects

Towering 139m high and situated in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD, the R1,6 billion Portside building is hard to miss when travelling through the Mother City. This impressive 34-floor glass giant adds over 50 000m2 of prime AAA office space to the city, making it the tallest building in the Cape. The only thing more impressive than these figures, is the efficiency of the project team during the design.
