thyssenkrupp staff embrace Cansa Shavathon

There was a hive of activity on 3 March at thyssenkrupp head office in Sunninghill, Johannesburg, as staff members enthusiastically participated in the annual Shavathon to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa.

thyssenkrupp is a globally diversified industrial group with traditional strengths in materials and a growing share of capital goods and services businesses.

Hair literally went flying and the courtyard was awash with rainbows of colour as staff members embraced the initiative, making donations to have the privilege of getting their heads shaved or their hair garnished in spray paint for this most worthy cause.

thyssenkrupp takes its role as a socially responsible company very seriously and supports several sustainable initiatives like the Shavathon which has become a regular happening on the company’s corporate social investment calendar.

“It is an extremely popular event with staff because it is such a fun and colourful initiative that everyone can get involved in,” says Kgothatso Ntsie, thyssenkrupp marketing and communications manager. “As always, this year’s Shavathon was extremely well supported and we are proud to announce that we raised a total of R6 350 for cancer!”
