The Institute provides an industry forum for plumbers, suppliers, manufacturers, professional specifiers and building & drainage authorities. Great importance is attached to skills development and the maintenance of standards. Acts as a Trade Association, Licencing & Registration and Information Services to the Industry
Andrew (Andy) Camphausen has been in the building/plumbing industry for over 20years. During his six years in the Free State, he was nominated and served as the vice-chairman of IOPSA Free State. He was offered a Regional Management position at Cobra Watertec, which is still his employer today. In 2011, Andy was promoted to National Channel Manager of the Commercial Sector, where he was transferred to the head office in Bryanston, Gauteng.
Mark de Wet was the national technical manager at IOPSA and a regular contributor during his term. He is a qualified plumber and registered gas installer. He also sat on the SABS technical committees and working groups on behalf of IOPSA and the IOPSA National Executive Board. He is also a PIRB inspector.
Mike Muller is a visiting adjunct professor at the Wits University School of Governance and a former Commissioner of the National Planning Commission and Director General of Water Affairs
Russ Chaney, IAPMO CEO and Chairman of the World Plumbing Council
Vollie Brink is one of the industry’s longest serving wet service engineers. He continues to serve on SABS committees and has been involved in the Green Building Council Star rating system. Brink continues to consult for various organisations while enjoying a well-earned retirement.
The World Plumbing Council (WPC) is an international organization which aims to develop and promote the image and standards of the plumbing Industry worldwide.
Patrick started in the plumbing retail business in 1985 with the Boumat Group. In 2000, he moved from retail to manufacturing and joined Cobra Watertech as a call centre administrator. He rapidly moved up in the company and served as product support manager / product development manager and in 2005, he was asked to take over the product support department nationally. He then qualified as a facilitator and assessor. When LIXIL Africa was formed and they had to train all the companies — Grohe, Cobra, Isca, Vaal, Plexicor and Libra — the training department was expanded.
