Messages:
The plumbing industry and the built environment has suffered a massive loss in the passing of Rob Millar. I had the privilege to serve with Rob on the EC exco of the IOPSA for many, many years. In his term as chairman Rob raised the bar and took the plumbing industry to the next level in the Eastern Cape. Rob had great leadership skills and led by example – always conducting meetings with calmness and integrity. After stepping down to vice chair, Rob continued his involvement and was an integral part of the IOPSA. With his compassion, humility and his passion for plumbing, Rob always looked out for the younger plumbing generation, always availing his time and knowledge to help and guide them.
We have all learnt a lot from a Great man – Rest in Peace Ingonyama!!
- Duncan Edwards
Our deepest condolences to Rob’s family. He leaves a huge void in the industry and will be missed.
- Jan van Heerden
My memory of Rob came from when we hosted the World Plumbing Conference 2016 in Cape Town and I discovered that he went to South Africa’s best school, the same one I went to, and that is Queen’s College, Queenstown.
Rob, upon discovering this made the two of us pound out the QC War Cry, Ingonyama, etc. at the official dinner, at least what we could remember!
Rob’s commitment to IOPSA and support for WPC 2016 was amazing.
Plumbing Africa’s thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

It is with deep sadness that we learned this morning of the passing of an active member, vice chairperson of the Eastern Cape and past chairperson of the Eastern Cape, Rob Millar. Rob was not only a dedicated plumber, but a beloved family man, and he will be sorely missed by all of us in the industry, and in our hearts.
May his soul rest in peace. Our thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time, and we wish them strength as they navigate through their grief.
Any further arrangements will be shared in due course.
- Adriaan Myburgh, President of IOPSA
