Rand Water is in the process of infrastructure maintenance and meter upgrades across the city, and this is why water supply may be limited or unavailable in some areas of Johannesburg.
The work will involve both planned and unplanned activities, which will take place between the months of June and July. These works will disrupt water accessibility as well as water pressure.
The most disruptive part of the maintenance programme is due to take place from 30 June to 21 July 2025 and involves a major infrastructure overhaul that will affect a number of Johannesburg Water systems at the same time.
Johanesburg Water has arranged for alternative water supply at specific points in residential areas. Residents are also encouraged to store water in advance of the outage.
