What are the Plumbing Olympics?

The Plumbing Olympics will bring plumbers into direct national competition through real-world, technical challenges, spread out over the two-day Indaba.

Inspired by WorldSkills but shaped by a distinctly South African character, the Olympics will be a competition between teams made up of plumbers and learners. The competition will assess the teams’ abilities through technical challenges and soft-skills assessments, showcasing the full depth of modern plumbing: competence, communication, compliance, problem solving and mentorship.

With varying awards to be won by the teams and differing criteria for the awards, spectators can expect to see:

  • A live skills competition through real-world installations
  • Technical and theoretical testing, with judges watching
  • Exhilaration and action
  • Skills, knowledge and technique being put to the test
