The bodies of three plumbers have been recovered from a manhole in Benoni.

Three plumbers, who went into a manhole in Benoni to attend to a sewage blockage, have been declared dead.
The three went into the manhole to do their work at 8:30pm on 29 October. Authorities and rescue teams were alerted when they didn’t emerge from the manhole. Their bodies were recovered on 30 October.
Benoni’s K9 unit and Gauteng Search and Rescue units took part in the recovery of the bodies.
The cause of death is as yet unknown, however it is believed that the plumbers became trapped in the manhole. The names of the deceased have not been released at time of going to press.
