The glitzy ERWIC awards honoured women in construction for the fifth year in a row.
The Construction Industry Development Board recently held their fifth Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards in Sandton on 24 August. The evening saw women working within the construction evening celebrated and honoured for their contribution to the industry as a whole.
The function room filled with remarkable women, all accomplished in their own right, all of whom were eager to find out if they had won an award in their category. This year’s awards highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation and success in the construction industry and comprised 15 categories, recognising women-led companies and individual women with distinguished achievements, as well as companies supporting gender transformation, development, and mentorship.
cidb CEO Bongani Dladla said that the ERWIC Awards provide invaluable opportunities for women to connect and grow and highlight the importance of community and mentorship within construction. “Being nominated gives companies access to a vast network of women in construction, allowing for collaboration and mutual support among industry peers,” he said. “Don’t be scared to grab onto all opportunities that are available to you, Dladla advises. “Enter the awards and get your name out there. I would encourage all aspiring female leaders to be confident and to showcase their achievements, as this visibility can lead to further prospects,” he added.
