World Toilet Day serves as a reminder that sanitation is of paramount importance to human health and wellbeing. This United Nations observation day takes place each year on 19 November, and this year, the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) held a one-day event in Centurion, Gauteng, to showcase products and services and to present workshops for plumbers on 15 November.

The observance day highlights the need for proper sanitation, especially in a country like South Africa where the use of pit toilets still takes place. The goal of World Toilet Day is to promote safely managed sanitation.

PIRB hosted an event at their Centurion offices in honour of World Toilet Day with suppliers, service providers and manufacturers showcasing their products to the plumbing industry. Workshops were also held on the topic of protecting oneself from a legal and business perspective, as well as rainwater harvesting and backup water installations for plumbers.

The event provided plumbers the opportunity to learn and grow through the workshops, discover what is new in the industry and to win fun prizes at the various competitions held at the exhibitor stalls.
