Patrick Gordon, technical manager at Splashworks, shines a spotlight on this classic bad installation.

“It’s difficult to find something correct about this installation,” says Patrick.

“But to name a few:

  1. The vacuum breakers are not on 300mm risers.
  2. The drain cock is fitted in the incorrect place.
  3. The TP&S valve is fitted in the incorrect place and is not piped out to safe place.
  4. The hot water vacuum breaker is fitted onto the incorrectly fitted drain cock – the geyser cannot vent.
  5. The element cover has not been replaced and fitted in place with the screws supplied.
