At the Plumbing Industry Awards hosted on 18 September 2025, a special announcement was made – the introduction of the IOPSA Legends, an award introduced to honour the legendary figures in the industry. These individuals were awarded a belt with a one-of-a-kind buckle, inscribed with their name and a serial number. They were also asked to sign their names in the IOPSA book – an immortalisation in IOPSA’s hall of fame. Here, we profile Adriaan Myburgh, IOPSA president, an IOPSA legend.

Adriaan Myburgh’s involvement in the Plumbing industry started in 1988, doing his trade test in Olifantsfontein and his apprenticeship as Jordaan’s Plumbers in Gqeberha. Adriaan has been in the Plumbing industry for 37 years.
When asked about the value that IOPSA offers to him as a member, Adriaan states “To name just a few: the technical backup, the training, the OHS expertise, the being part of a bigger family of like-minded individuals that take their trade seriously, the online marketing material. Ultimately, the most value lies in the satisfaction of being part of an organisation that cares about its members.”
We asked, what does the Legend Award mean to you?
“Although I am too young to be a legend, it is a huge honour – it serves as recognition from your peers for many hours of working towards a better organisation, and from the plumbing industry as a whole.”
