For over three decades, Bathroom Bizarre has offered outside-the-wall retail products to plumbers. Over the past two years, they have expanded these offerings to behind-the-wall-products for plumbers through Plumbizarre.

Currently, there are 25 Bathroom Bizzare branches in South Africa, 20 of which now incorporate Plumbizarre – with two more Plumbizarre branches set to open between April–May in Cape Town.
Who is Plumbizarre?
William Gafane from Plumbizarre states that the company “was inspired by the need to offer a more comprehensive shopping experience to our Bathroom Bizarre customers. Bathroom Bizarre in its traditional format offers all the finishing products outside the wall such as baths, showers, taps, cabinets and tiles. Plumbizarre now offers the behind the wall products such as pipes, fittings and water heating equipment.”
As for how the company aims to support and add value to the plumbing industry, William says: “Plumbizarre is centred around creating convenience and value to our professional plumber customers through providing a network of stores across South Africa with the support of a central distribution centre which can cater to more specific and specialised requirements. A major area of focus is to ensure that we provide a conduit of information to the market from our supplier base to the professional market in order to enhance supplier innovation and create value within the customer base.”
The company has been guided by customer needs that may be area- or market-specific, which takes them beyond the supply of pipes and fittings, and positions them as the local problem solvers who focus business on their customers. “Plumbizarre is part of the Bathroom Bizarre offering, and by extending our product offering, we aim to build stronger ties with our local supply chain in order to better serve our customers,” says Gafane.
As for the future plans of the company, Gafane emphasises that “Plumbizarre is positioned to grow alongside Bathroom Bizarre as well as in a standalone format, which will enable us to reach markets that may not have been accessible to the brand in the past. This will create an opportunity to provide quality products, superior service and product training to plumbers outside of our current reach.”
“With our retail experience spanning more than three decades, Plumbizarre will continue to carry the Bathroom Bizarre ethos of “Pulling the plug on High Prices”, focusing on our customers and building local brands,” concludes Gafane.
